Choosing the right engine combination for your race team.
The following questions need to be reviewed in detail when deciding which engine combination or options makes the most sense for you and your race team.
What upgrades mean to you and your engine...
Porting benefits to your engine
The moderate port job will give you approximately 30 more horsepower and 25 ft lbs of torque when using alcohol.
Upgrading your valve train or short block components
Internal component upgrades will not specifically improve the horsepower/torque output of your engine, but plays a significant role in improving the reliability, longevity, and RPM limits ofyour engine.
Oil temp demands of your engine
Conventional engine oils begin to break down at 260 degrees, while synthetic oils begin to break down at 300 degrees. Once the oil reached this point, it will never return to it\'s original level of protection. Oil break down will cause bearing and component failure. Oil coolers can help reduce operating temos up to 60 degrees.
Fuel Delivery Components
Given the demands put on today\'s racing engines, we require that modifieds running alcohol use a belt drive fuel pump. Mechanical pumps are sufficient on gas, but do not produce enough fuel volume at RPM to meet performance demands.
